Winter Hours now in effect: Wednesday thru Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

We've been finding good homes for good books since 1983, first via catalog and later internet sales to customers all over the world. In 2007 we opened a genuine brick and mortar book shop. We are Bar Harbor's only used book store. Mystery Cove Book Shop offers books in all subjects and if we don't have the book you're looking for, we'll do our best to find it for you. We have a strong collection of books by Mainers and books about Maine, especially those concerned with the people, history, flora and fauna of Mount Desert Island.

Our Summer hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. We’re located 500 feet up Crooked Road from Route 3 in Hulls Cove. We are now offering free WiFi.

We ship worldwide at reasonable rates. We not only recycle books, but almost all of our shipping materials, as well.

Order securely, we accept Visa and Mastercard through Propay. If you prefer you may use Paypal or send a check or money order.
